From 11–13 March, Kingston, Jamaica, will host a landmark stakeholder outreach event aimed at protecting our underwater cultural treasures.
The event will bring together cultural officials, local law enforcement, community leaders, and the public to raise awareness about the looting and trafficking of underwater cultural heritage. But it is not only about prevention: the event will also spotlight its immense environmental, cultural, and economic value.
Join us in celebrating and safeguarding the rich heritage that lies beneath the waves – because every artefact tells a story, and every story matters!

Sunken Secrets of the Caribbean Sea – UNESCO NGOs
This event is being organised by the Accredited NGOs Network in collaboration with UNESCO, the UNESCO Jamaica National Commission, the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Institute of Jamaica (IOJ), the National Museum Jamaica, the Jamaica National Heritage Trust, Kingston Creative, the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA), and the University of West Indies, Mona (UWI Mona) with the support of the AECID.
As a member of the Accredited NGOs Network, the Ocean Decade Heritage Network (ODHN) will also be represented at the event.
