Launch of the new CHFP website
We are pleased to announce that The Cultural Heritage Framework Programme (CHFP) has a new website, a platform dedicated to uniting cultural heritage with the UN Ocean Decade efforts to achieve the ‘ocean we want’. Coordinated by the University of Edinburgh on behalf of the Ocean Decade Heritage Network (ODHN), the CHFP is the first and only UN-level global platform focused on integrating cultural heritage into the Ocean Decade.
Head to the new CHFP website and explore all that CHFP offers: ways to get involved with the Decade, information on CHFP’s advocacy efforts, technical advice, multidisciplinary research support, Capacity Building opportunities, ocean literacy resources.
Newly endorsed Decade Actions
We are thrilled to introduce three new Actions endorsed by the CHFP on behalf of the UN Ocean Decade:
Enhancing Estuary Resilience in Coastal British Columbia
Led by The Nature Trust of British Columbia, this project partners with First Nations to understand and increase estuary resilience. For details, see CHFP: Enhancing Estuary Resilience in Coastal British Columbia.
Shipwrecks as Artificial Reef Structures in Sri Lanka
Led by the University of Bremen (Germany), this project aims to increase understanding of the biological, historical, and socio-economic value of shipwrecks in Sri Lanka. For further details, see CHFP: Shipwrecks as Artificial Reef Structures.
Vaka Oceanstory Lab
Led by the Okeanos Foundation (Germany), the Vaka Oceanstory Lab leverages traditional Polynesian sailing canoes, Vakas, as a platform for inspirational knowledge, exploration and social change. For a detailed description of the project, see Ocean Decade: Vaka Oceanstory Lab.
The full list of Decade Actions endorsed by CHFP can be found on the new CHFP website under Endorsed Actions. More Actions are in the process of becoming endorsed, so stay tuned for updates!
