About the SEAMEO SPAFA Conference

The SEAMEO SPAFA Conference (SPAFACON) is the premier academic gathering hosted by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Archaeology and Fine Arts (SEAMEO SPAFA), aimed at advancing knowledge and understanding of the archaeology, fine arts, and cultural heritage in Southeast Asia. SPAFACON provides a unique platform for individuals from a variety of disciplines and perspectives to share their research, insights, and passion for the region. SPAFACON 2024 is scheduled for 10^th-14^th June 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. The conference will consist of three days of sessions (10^th-12^th June), a day of excursions (13^th June),and a day of workshops (14^th June).

Call for papers

We welcome submissions of original research papers that contribute to the fields of:

• Archaeology: Present your latest archaeological discoveries, methodologies, and theoretical insights related to Southeast Asia’s rich history. Share your expertise in excavations, dating techniques, and artefact analysis that shed light on the region’s past civilizations.
• Fine Arts: Explore the dynamic world of Southeast Asian fine arts, encompassing both visual and performing arts. Discuss topics such as traditional and contemporary art forms, artistic expressions, and the preservation of artistic heritage.
• Cultural Heritage: Delve into the multifaceted aspects of cultural heritage preservation and management. Share your experiences and research findings related to heritage conservation, community engagement, and the safeguarding of tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

Submission Guidelines

• Prepare an abstract of your paper (approximately 300 words) outlining the research objectives, methods, and key findings.
• Indicate the preferred session category (insert link to list of sessions).
• Include a brief biography and contact information of the authors.
• Submit your abstract by (submission deadline).

Important Dates

Deadline for Abstract Submission: 29^th February 2024.
Notification of Acceptance: You are encouraged to submit your proposal earlier than later. Proposals will be considered at various stages leading up to the deadline and subject to space limitations.
Conference Dates: June 10^th-14^th, 2024.
