
SHA 2027 Conference on Historical and Underwater Archaeology
The Society for Historical Archaeology (SHA) will hold its 60th annual conference in Austin, Texas, from 6–9 January 2027.
Under the theme “Reflection on the Power of Place,” the conference invites participants to consider how places both shape and are shaped by culture, and how they become powerful expressions of identity through storytelling, collective action and events. The programme will bring together researchers and practitioners working across historical, terrestrial and underwater archaeology.

Registration opens: 1 October 2027
Proposals are invited for symposia, forums and panels, individual papers, and posters. Student presenters may also be eligible for a range of SHA and Advisory Council on Underwater Archaeology travel awards and prizes.
