Sustainable Oceans and Coasts for next generations

Advanced thinkers from research laboratories, maritime authorities, and industry will meet in Pattaya, Thailand, from 26-28 February 2025, to share knowledge on how humankind will use the seas while increasing the connectivity of Southeast Asia with the rest of the world.

While the conference’s intention is to be a catalyst for joint maritime research and business activities in Southeast Asia, participants from all over the world are invited to share expertise and visions for a better way of using the seas.

The theme of 3rd international SEA the Future Conference is “Sustainable Oceans and Coasts for next generations”. The principal organiser of the conference is the Faculty of International Maritime Studies, Kasetsart University, Sriracha campus, Thailand. The conference is co-organised by:

  • Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia.
  • Faculty of Maritime Studies, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu, Malaysia.
  • SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu, India.

Aims and scopes

  • Safe(r shipping and environment) – The weakest link in terms of maritime safety is the human factor. The rapid development of autonomous technology for ships will affect shipping and its safety profoundly. Port development is a must. Managing the port in a sustainable fashion is necessary.
  • Smart(er shipping technology) – Green is the new smart. Shipping is using advanced technologies, not just IT, to reduce its environmental footprint. Smart maritime education is indispensable. Maritime laws and policy need to get smarter and up-to-date.
  • Sustainable (use of the oceans) – The sea is much more than just a “highway made of water” to transport goods and people. Coastal area is valuable. Coastal protection and management are important for community development. Sustainable prevention and management of marine pollution are necessary.

Please see the conference website for a list of topics of interest for submission.
