Dr Isabel Rivera-Collazo Speaks at UNOC3 side event on Indigenous Leadership in Marine Conservation

We are proud to share that Associate Professor Isabel Rivera-Collazo, board member of the Ocean Decade Heritage Network and Director of the Scripps Center for Marine Archaeology (SCMA), spoke today at the UN Ocean Conference (UNOC3) side event “Uplifting Indigenous Peoples’ Leadership in Marine and Coastal Conservation”.

Dr Rivera-Collazo’s work combines earth sciences, archaeology and marine ecology to understand social vulnerability to climate and environmental change, in particular through food and habitat security in coastal and marine areas.

Drawing from her interdisciplinary expertise, Dr Rivera-Collazo highlighted the critical role of traditional knowledge and cultural heritage in advancing inclusive, science-based approaches to ocean sustainability.
